Nigel Sowman Nigel's comprehensive knowledge and commitment to Marlborough viticulture provides the backbone to achieve the high standards Walnut Block Wines aspire to. Nigel finished Lincoln University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology, and was awarded the honour of being the inaugural recipient of the Matador Estate Graduate Programme. He then gained international experience in South Australia, France and Central Coast region, California.
Returning to Marlborough
in 2002 he start his current position as Viticulturist for Ashmore
Vineyards, supplying premium quality grapes to Dog Point Vineyard,
Cloudy Bay, Fromm, Pegasus Bay and Highfield Estate.
Gordon Ritchie Gordon makes the vineyard talk, his experience and attention to detail brings to life the months of hard work in the vineyard. With a blend of natural and cultured yeast he creates wines that are complex and textural. Experiences from working with Delegats, Forrest Estate and Seresin have built a complete understanding for Marlborough wines and styles, giving him the perception to bring the best out of every vintage.
Clyde is responsible for brand management and direction of Walnut Block Wines locally and internationally. He has gained industry experience and valuable insight from working in Australia, London and throughout North America.
Helen has the complicated task of taking the wine from the tank to markets around the world. 4 years as Production and Logistics Manager for Wither Hills Winery has given her the detailed knowledge and experience to make this job look easy.
